Album available as:- The Hidden Years compiles the highlights of John Martyn's uneven early-'90s recordings for Permanent Records, including the majority of both 1990's The Apprentice and 1991's Cool Tide. It's the best way to sample a largely forgettable era of Martyn's career, even though there are still a number of ringers among these selected tracks. - Thom Owens (AMG) Released in 1996, a superfluous compilation of The Apprentice and Cooltide from Artful Records. A dogs breakfast of a compilation. The records labels should just leave the original albums as they are. Does not make any sense. - John Hillarby (The John Martyn Website)
